As a parent, educator, or youth worker, you have undoubtedly experienced the frustration of trying to create a dynamic learning environment for youth in the static atmosphere of our schools and institutions. At Rippleffect, our goal is to immerse youth in a culture rich with the brilliant energies of the natural world and filled with glowing examples of positive adult role models.
Our new web layout will ideally allow you to answer many of your questions by exploring our site, or downloading our frequently asked questions document. However, we are still available to talk at Rippleffect HQ, located at the Portland Ocean Terminal, next to the Maine State Pier in Portland, and encourage you to call with questions or to discuss a potential program. Please call our office to plan a field trip or to have your questions answered.

"Seventy-five 7th grade students at King Middle School in Portland worked with Rippleffect in the Spring of 2005. The staff and students at King collaborated with Rippleffect staff to design, grow and install an organic garden on Cow Island in Casco Bay. Our work with Rippleffect complimented and furthered our classroom practice in many ways. Our experience was challenging, rewarding and intense… all in all, it was simply outstanding!"
"We worked with Rippleffect to broaden our classroom concepts in many areas as they related to the Maine State Learning Results and King Middle School's Expeditionary Learning Outward Bound model. In Social Studies, we learned navigation skills and Casco Bay geography. In Math, we learned how to read NOAA charts and measure distances. In Language Arts we journaled, writing reflections about the elements of group dynamics, team initiatives, self growth and effective communication. In Science, we explored how multi-cellular organisms interact with different environments, specifically, the plant kingdom and most specifically on how photosynthesis effected the growth of over 300 plants grown in our classroom. These plants were transported to Cow Island for planting in our student designed garden. We also studied the physics of bouancy and learned how to kayak. The complete collaborative experience culminated in an overnight adventure in which the students worked together as a group to plant the garden and circumnavigated Cow Island in kayaks."
"Rippleffect helped us access the natural world. They provided a flexible, safe and caring structure so that each student could succeed in and to their own level of ability and intelligence. As a public middle school, our experience with Rippleffect left us feeling like we had taken Maine education to the next level. Thank you to everyone who made this experience possible."
-Scott Comstock, 6th-7th Grade Science Teacher, King Middle School, Portland, Maine
