We have multiple opportunities for volunteering throughout the year. Please contact the Rippleffect office for more information on how to get involved.
Volunteer opportunities include:
- Spring and Fall Cow Island volunteer days
- Maintenance of our island garden
- General office support
- Rappel for Rippleffect
On Friday and Saturday, May 13th & 14th, the One City Center building and Monument Square in downtown Portland will be buzzing with activity. Nearly 100 intrepid adventurers will be rappelling 13 floors (180 feet!) to support Rippleffect.
This event would not be possible without the dedication of many volunteers- we need your help!
Please see the volunteer job descriptions below and then visit our page on Sign Up Genius to register to be a volunteer:
You are the unflappable gate-keepers of the entire event! You are responsible for the initial welcoming and registration paperwork of all Edgers, the introduction of Edgers to their Event Escort, and the timing and pace of transferring Edgers to the Staging Area.
You will help where needed and sometimes act as cheerleader for our daring Edgers as they make their way down the building.
You are responsible for the collection and retrieval the Edger’s personal items (keys, wallets, watches, cell phones, etc).
You are responsible for escorting Edgers through the various stages before and after their descent. Must be engaging, personable, and willing to cheer on your group!
You are responsible for returning radios and ASAPs to the roof after the descent of each Edger.
Exclusion Zone Watch
You are responsible for keeping unauthorized people out of the exclusion zone surrounding the Edgers on the roof and on the ground.
We need three pairs of volunteers to man the road blocks at either end of the event and to circulate through the event space. We encourage you to sign up with a partner so you can have a buddy to chat with!
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!
MaineHealth Volunteer Day
On Friday, April 11th, Rippleffect welcomed MaineHealth to Cow Island for another Day of Caring! The day was spent setting up the event tent, raking trails and much more!!
