Velvet

Thanks for a Successful Velvet 9 "The Black and White Ball"
November 15, 2007 from Six to Ten pm
at The Warehouse, 58 Fore Street, Portland, Maine

Our largest fundraiser each year is Velvet, an evening of light hors d'ouevres, live entertainment, a fashion show (local clothiers only), and a silent and a live auction. Each service and item is donated by local shops and restaurants that support and understand the importance of our mission. Velvet is a fund-raising and friend-raising event, with all profits going directly toward student scholarships, island upkeep, and program development. With an amazing 80% of our students receiving scholarship monies, Rippleffect relies on the success of Velvet to allow children the opportunity to spend time on Casco Bay. A recent study states that 70% of Maine youth will not have an island experience before they turn 18; Rippleffect is actively working to reduce that number by offering options to families of all economic backgrounds. It is due to Velvet's success that Rippleffect is able to continue its forward momentum and offer dynamic programs to greater numbers of Maine youth.
